News » Cypress Halfpipe Build Underway
ASP crews have started construction on the halfpipe at Cypress Mountain, site of the Olympic snowboard events. Despite some challenging weather conditions in Vancouver area the pipe is starting to take shape with the right wall pushed and step out and the left wall currently being pushed. Construction on the pipe will continue throughout the next two weeks as crews ensure that every available flake of snow sees it’s way into the pipe.
Installation of the lights and jumbo screen will begin during the first week of February and cabling and TV platforms will go in closer to the event. Arena Snowparks will continue on with the pipe build and maintenance through this period in an effort to create an ideal riding surface. The Winter Olympic Games start in 21 days. Check back for more pipe build updates.
